Up to Main Index Up to Journal for June, 2016 JOURNAL FOR SATURDAY 11TH JUNE, 2016 ______________________________________________________________________________ SUBJECT: Back on task DATE: Sat 11 Jun 23:44:13 BST 2016 I feel guilty. Recently I've been distracted from WolfMUD. First there was the 'editor' distraction where I had actually started working on building a little editor. Prior and since that I'd also been unwell and found it difficult to concentrate and found myself easily distracted. Did I really want to squander precious productive moments on WolfMUD or my own editor? I, probably more than anyone, want to see WolfMUD progress. I want to be back to the stage WolfMUD was in before the rewrite of the rewrite. The editor has been carefully packed away and shelved, for now... The client and comms code is being cleaned up some more to make implementation of the frontend drivers easier. This is allowing the already written frontend driver code to be cleaned up and reworked as well. In other news I've been using the new Go 1.7 beta 1. I've not noticed. WolfMUD does not have a huge amount of code yet but compile times have halved. From about 4 seconds down to 2 seconds on an Intel Core i7 860 and from 6 seconds down to 3 seconds on an Intel dual core E1400 Celeron. The Raspberry PI Model B rev 2 has gone from 52 seconds down to 31 seconds for a full WolfMUD compile. Also, thanks to a generouse benefactor, my personal desktop has been upgraded from 2Gb RAM to 4Gb RAM making testing of large numbers of clients easier :) Only a small update. At least I'm focused on things that matter to me - and hopefully others - again. -- Diddymus Up to Main Index Up to Journal for June, 2016
