Up to Main Index Up to Journal for April, 2013 JOURNAL FOR WEDNESDAY 3RD APRIL, 2013 ______________________________________________________________________________ SUBJECT: A squandered Easter bank holiday DATE: Wed Apr 3 21:47:38 BST 2013 So, the Easter bank holiday is behind us and I squandered it visiting family and mostly sleeping. I did some WolfMUD coding and sorted out a few more issues - nowhere near as much as I was planning on. I know people are itching to get their hands on the latest code and I'm sorry :( So what did WolfMUD Wednesday[1] bring? Actually I think I've finished sorting out most of the outstanding issues I had. Tests are broken and need revisiting as they haven't kept up with the developing code[2]. I also need to document a lot of the new code[3] and clean it up. But it is working! ;) Now, do I prolong your agony and fix tests, clean up and document before releasing? I know the code should be released early and released often. In these early stages I'm also aware of the danger of releasing 'rubbish' which becomes peoples first impressions - one look never to return. I think I'll do what I can between now and the end of the weekend and then release - whatever state things are in as long as it's all still working... -- Diddymus [1] I always *try* to set aside Wednesday evenings after work to code on WolfMUD as I have a free pass while the rest of the family is busy with their own things. [2] When making sweeping structural changes in the early stages of a project I have a nasty habit of testing the code by running it rather than writing tests :( [3] See [2] above. Documentation doesn't have a chance of keeping up either. Up to Main Index Up to Journal for April, 2013
