SUBJECT: Latest dev branch changes broken & fixed

Apologies to all those frustrated with the latest dev branch changes. It would
appear that I accidentally dropped part of a commit due to a merge conflict.
The missing part of the commit has now been re-added and pushed out to the
public dev branch.

Pull the dev branch everything should be compiling again.
