SUBJECT: Found an interesting MUD report
   DATE: Sun May  6 15:13:45 BST 2012

While browsing around yesterday I accidentally came across an old report on
MUDs written by none other than Richard Bartle of the original MUD fame - also
known as Essex MUD or MUD1. Reading it is fascinating from a MUD history point
of view. Although using the word history seems very odd as it's my past and
stuff I lived with. Most interesting is the history of MUDs and their
capabilities at the time. There is also some information in the report that
players will probably find interesting as well.

I have also mirrored a copy here least it should disappear, if this should

This is the original text file as found except for the first line containing
'jtconv: noindex, nohtml' and the following blank line. These stop the tools
used for this site from indexing it in the journal index and producing a plain
HTML version.

SUBJECT: New Go WolfMUD announced

Well I've done it - I've just announced[1] on the WolfMUD discussion group about
the rewrite. I wonder how it will be taken? As a fresh start and a way for
WolfMUD to move forward? Or as an abandonment of the Java users?

I hope it is seen as a way to move forward and get some new life into WolfMUD.
Even if nobody else is interested in WolfMUD any more I'm going to continue.
As I've always said it's a way for me to learn new stuff and experiment. If
other people also find WolfMUD fun or useful that's just an exciting bonus.
